RBS-Branded Rugby App Converts 50,000 Downloads

The free RBS 6 Nations Live Challenge app, designed to be used while watching the rugby tournament on TV, has been downloaded more than 50,000 times in almost three weeks. The average number of active players per match stands at 9,000 after two of the five rounds of tournament matches. The number of downloads parallels the success of Heineken's free Star Player app, for which AKQA won a Gold Cyber Lion at the Cannes advertising festival.
Virgin Media Interrupts Ad Breaks

Virgin Media is taking over the ad breaks during ITV1’s coverage of The Brits tonight (21 February) to highlight the benefits of watching TV online using its “super fast” broadband. The broadband provider will “interrupt” ads from other advertisers including Yeo Valley and Citroen, with the online buffering wheel commonly seen when viewers watch TV online using slow internet connections.
IGN Partners With Pearl & Dean For 'Mass Effect 3' Campaign

Online gaming publisher IGN Entertainment and cinema sales house Pearl & Dean have tied up on a promotion for pre-orders for 'Mass Effect 3', the forthcoming game from Electronic Arts. The campaign, brokered by MediaCom, encourages cinemagoers and gamers to vote for their favourite sci-fi movies through a bespoke 'Mass Effect 3'-themed microsite.
WSB Atlanta Launches iPhone Traffic App

Cox Media Group’s ABC affiliate WSB Atlanta (DMA 9) and Beat the Traffic, a provider of real-time traffic information, have teamed up to launch the new wsbtv.com Traffic App, available for free in the iTunes App Store. “The new app is loaded with useful tools for Atlanta drivers.” said Tim McVay, WSB vice president and general manager.
